Many ways to turn a cup of coffee into a sweet treat
By Melora B. North
A friend and I went for coffee the other day at a little place where the thermoses were set on a counter, the Styrofoam cups neatly arranged nearby, convenient for customers to help themselves. While I was pouring my usual decaf with a touch of cream, I noticed my friend was helping herself to a little of this and a little of that. She was filling her cup with decaf, caffeinated mocha, a touch of cream and a hefty dose of hot chocolate. I asked her what was up and she said she always liked to mix up her java jolt with whatever was offered.
Thinking her notion was a nifty idea, I carefully added a touch of hot chocolate to my mix and was delighted with the outcome. It tasted like coffee with a chocolatizing that titillated my taste buds and brought back memories of childhood chocolates by the bonfire after ice skating on frosty days.
After sipping my blend for a moment I decided I wanted it iced, so added a hand full of ice cubes. Off we went, both satisfied and energized by our mixes.
