Caribou Coffee Announces: Caribou for Kids

Caribou Coffee, the nation's second largest specialty coffee company with more than 200 stores, is launching Caribou for Kids(TM) -- the company's charitable foundation that will benefit children in need. Looking to reach out and support children in its local community, the foundation's first initiative will promote the fundamentals of reading for children through its partnership with the Wenonah Community Elementary School, located in Minneapolis, MN.

"It's my belief that successful organizations such as Caribou must give back to the communities in which they live and operate," said Don Dempsey, CEO of Caribou. "We selected children in need as the foundation's main priority because there is no greater asset to our future than a child that has been given every opportunity to succeed. Whether it is healthcare, education, nutrition, computer skills or any other opportunity we can try and offer young people, our foundation will work with our local communities to identify and benefit those children."

More from China

We are now in Guangzhou, China. It is beautiful here--more like San Diego or Miami. It is in the upper 70's and the tropical plants are good to see. It is near Hong Kong and has 12 million people and 400,000 motorcycles. I have not seen many coffee shops yet--did see a large one downtown, called Seattle Coffee, but did not get the opportunity to visit.
