Brazil’s rural coffee country needs your help

A non-profit school in Brazil’s rural coffee country needs your help.

The Centro Education Cooperfam (CEC) in Poço Fundo brings much needed quality, affordable education to a rural area. The school supports the local farming community by offering scholarships to children whose parents belong to the local Fair Trade Certified™ coffee cooperative.

But the CEC school can only squeeze 200 students into its rented rooms, even though 400 students want to attend. Children only have a tiny patch of grass or asphalt to play sports. Perched on a steep hill, the school can’t safely accommodate students with disabilities.

Your donation to build a new school can change all of this.

Coffee grower and roaster Café Bom Dia is leading a community outreach effort to build Poço Fundo a new school. Café Bom Dia has made a major donation and is helping the CEC school raise money to complete construction and purchase school supplies. The Poço Fundo municipal government is donating machinery to start construction and landscaping supplies for a grass playground.

Please join us to bring affordable, quality education to families who live in Brazil’s coffee country.
