Starbucks profit jumps 27%; revenue up by nearly a quarter

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Starbucks earned $127 million, or 16 cents a share in its fiscal second quarter, up 27% from the year-ago period. Revenue for the Seattle-based cafe chain came in at $1.9 billion, a gain of 24% while same-store sales jumped rose 10%.
