Happy Thanksgiving
Thankfulness
An Israeli couple eulogized their only son emotionally. The audience in the synagogue listened with sympathy as the couple spoke of the young boy’s special character, appreciation for life, and deep devotion to the Holy Land of Israel. Just after his nineteenth birthday, he was brutally killed while defending his beloved Land. In their son’s memory, the parents presented a generous donation to their synagogue.
After the presentation a woman in the audience turned to her husband and whispered, “Let’s donate the same for our son.”
“What are you talking about?” asked the father. “Our boy didn’t lose his life.”
“That’s just my point,” replied the mother. “Let’s give charity because he was spared.”
“Ask not, ‘How can I get all the things I want?’ Ask, ‘How can I enjoy the things I have?’”
